About Us

We are a research group studying how anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) affect the reproductive system. Research has shown that AAS use can make it harder for men to produce their own testosterone, and it can take months or even years to recover after stopping AAS. During this time, men might experience problems like erectile dysfunction, lower sex drive, and infertility. Not many studies have looked at how AAS affects women, and we want to change that.

Our research group is led by Dr Channa Jayasena, an internationally recognized specialist of reproductive endocrinology. He also works as Consultant in Reproductive Endocrinology and Head of Andrology at St. Mary's & Hammersmith Hospitals, London. Dr Jayasena specialises in the management of patients experiencing AAS withdrawal.

We are looking for women and men to take part in our anonymous research studies.

If you are a woman currently using anabolic steroids or have used them in the past, or a man who has recently stopped using anabolic steroids, we would love to hear from you and invite you to contribute to this important research.
